Data-driven success: artificial intelligence and implant dentistryThis lecture will explore the growth of data in dentistry and how data underscores the future progress in clinical implant dentistry. The planning and procedures we follow are based on relatively small data sets and our planning and execution are often estimates or approximations of what we perceive as correct. Often it results in not much more than a guess. Data, machine learning and artificial intelligence will infiltrate much of clinical dentistry by providing robust data sets that offer guidance in planning and treatment so that we no longer guess.
Learning objectives:
Participants will understand
- the sources and types of data influencing our future decision making in implant dentistry;
- how artificial intelligence may influence manufacture, workflow and responsibility in clinical implant dentistry, and
- the potential influence of personalised medicine on the practice of dental implant therapy.
