Dr. Aly Virani is an accomplished implant dentist whose practice focuses exclusively on the placement and restoration of dental implants. A Cardiff University graduate, Aly holds a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, a Diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and an MSc in Clinical Oral Implantology from Ulster University. He is proud to have been invited to be an Associate Fellow of the College of General Dentistry (UK).

He has also held leadership roles as an ambassador for the Young ITI (International Team for Implantology) and as a board member of the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI), representing Wales.
Aly has a special interest in full arch immediate loading (also known as “All-on-X,” full-mouth implant treatment, or “teeth in a day”) and complex digital workflows. This expertise has led him to become a Key Opinion Leader for leading international innovators in implant dentistry, including Southern Implants, Shining 3D, ClaronavDental, W&H, and Osstell. He frequently lectures at national and international conferences and mentors fellow clinicians across the UK.
In his role as Clinical Director, Aly values a holistic, patient-centered approach, tailoring treatment plans to each individual. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of restorative dentists, he offers comprehensive care that addresses both aesthetic and functional needs under one roof.
Awards and Recognition
In 2023, Aly was honored as Young Dentist of the Year. His practice has also won multiple awards, including Best Implant Dentistry Practice (South United Kingdom) in both 2022 and 2023, Best Practice (Wales) in 2022, and Best Cosmetic & General Dentistry Practice (Cardiff) in 2022. While these accolades reflect his commitment to excellence, Aly values the trust and positive feedback from his patients as the truest measure of success.

Thank you
Than you!
You mentioned that your referring dentists take Osstell Measurements prior to restoration. Is that all in the same Clinic? How do they communicate their measurements back to you for entry into OsstellConnect?
How easy is it to educate your patients on the Traffic Light system of ISQ measurements and the Beacon?
What do you do if the ISQ doesn’t reach the green light even if you measure 3-4 times? But it is stable in the same range for let’s say 2 readings with 4-6 weeks in between.
Progressive loading if there are more than one implant? And if only one implant? What do you recommend?
I often meet cases with a slight decrease in ISQ but still in the green zone – to be honest, I usually have ISQ >70 in my simple cases, even with a torque <20 Ncm - for example initially 79 and before loading 76. How would you interpret that?
plese define ISQ
If at uncoveryvthe implant is a bit mobile..should we go for progressive loading
I often meet cases with a slight decrease in ISQ but still in the green zone – to be honest, I usually have ISQ >70 in my simple cases, even with a torque <20 Ncm. For example initially 79, before loading (2 months later) 76. How would you interpret that?
You mentioned that you did not understand Osstell ISQ when you started using it. How long did it take you to have full comfort in how to apply ISQ as part of your diagnostics?
What steps would you recommend to a new Osstell user to make sure that your workflow is successful within the operatory and the Clinic as a whole?
When were the magnetic sensors introduced
Dr. Virani, what prompted you to starting using Osstell?
